Premature Babies or Preemies can be difficult to buy clothes for, not least asnot all preemies are the same, there is no one size fits all solution. Luckily there are many specialist retailers, particularly on the Internet, who specialize in premature baby clothes and carry an amazing array of sizes and styles suitable for premature babies.

Finding the right clothes for your premature baby is not too difficult these days, ebay and Amazon.com both come highly recommended but there are others online.  No matter where you shop there are some basic rules for buying premature babywear that you should stick to.

Know you babies measurements, length and approximate weight.  If your preemie is still in hosptal bear in mind to find clothes with easy access for any leads etc they need to keep attached, look for garments that have stud or popper fastening to allow simple access for medical equipment.  Try to estimate your babies body and arm length as well as these are crucial factors in getting the clothes that fit, often preemies have very skinny arms that appear quite long compared to their bodies, bear arm length in mind when buying long sleeved garments.

Don't forget that premature babies are likely to grow very fast so do not over buy in preemie sizes, by the time your bundle of joy reaches their due date they are likely to be bigger than a newborn so all those extra preemie jump suits will need to gotten rid of.

More than anything you should not worry too much about the clothes, enjoy your premature baby and they will soom be wearing grown up clothes and when you look back you will wonder what all the fuss was about.
